Bodegas Loess
Bodegas Loess is a winery in Ribera de Duero, one of the most fashionable red wine regions of Spain. In addition to making red from their vineyards in Ribera, they manage 2 small vineyards in neighbouring Rueda. Rueda is a white-only appellation which can be made from Sauvignon Blanc and/or Verdejo. To my mind, of the two, Verdejo (ver-DAY-ho, unrelated to the similarly sounding verdelho) makes more interesting wines, as long as yields are kept low. Nevertheless, it is rarely grown outside the country.
